Summer Race Team

Take your sailing to the next level by competing in Chesapeake Bay-wide events during the summer. Experienced coaches work with sailors in Optimists, Lasers and 420's as they train at BCSC in preparation for regattas. Sailors then travel to different clubs around the Bay, where competition is against peers for trophies and bragging rights. Sailors provide their own boats (limited charters available from BCSC) and parental involvement is expected. This is a summer-long program and ideal for sailors who just can't get enough time on the water.

Sailors from BCSC typically do very well against their peers from other sailing and yacht clubs on the Chesapeake Bay. To qualify for CBYRA CORUM High Point, sailors must compete in at least four CBYRA events. BCSC sailors that qualified in 2011 include:

Brendan Barger - 8th in Red Fleet, 24th Optimist overall

Liam McCann - 7th White Fleet

Jordan Kimmel - 10th in Red Fleet

Peter Collins - 18th in Red Fleet

Josh Dragon - 9th overall in Laser Radials

Gabriel Watson - 11th overall in Laser Radials

Mark Dragon - 22nd overall in Laser Radials

Geoffrey Calderone - 26th overall in Laser Radials

Very impressive regatta finishes from these guys!! In addition to many CBYRA events, BCSC travelled to Island Heights New Jersey to compete in their 2011 Junior Olympic Sailing Festival. Against New Jersery and other CBYRA competition, Brendan Barger was 3rd overall in Optimist Silver Fleet and 1st in Red Fleet and Gabriel Watson was 12th in Laser Radials (out of approximately 70 boats).

The 2013 season is going to be exciting! The schedule is available here and an organizational meeting is in the works.
